Hi all....

First post on here as im trying to help a colleague out with his T25....

Its a 1.9 DG engine, which he has completley rebuilt. The engine was put back in on Saturday and filled with oil & coolant and there were no leaks...So he then went onto start it and after a couple of trys it turned over.....

The oil light was flashing on the dash , but the engine sounded pretty quiet considering it was the first time it was fired up....

After doing some investigation as to why the light was on, he has found that there is no oil pressure...? He has confirmed this by removing the oil pressure switch and turning the engine, and you would think oil would come out ..... but there was nothing...

So the question is, any ideas as to why there was no pressure? Faulty oil pump maybe ?

I had exactly this on an engine that was rebuilt by a guy near me.

I towed the van to him and he sorted it out in half a day.
He said he fitted a special "high pressure" oil pump to blast away a blockage (not sure if that was more of "I'm not telling you what I did" type of smokescreen)

The trouble is I asked the exact same question on here before I took it back to him, and because of that he seemed to think I was questioning his competence and duly fell out with me So I cannot ask him for more info on your behalf. Not sure if he would speak to you though ??

The only good news is it may be the same as mine and therefore could be fixed in situ.

My guess = these oil pumps need to be primed if they are dry or new, perhaps yours has lost it's prime ?
