help needed with eberspacher heater?????

Hi all, well i fianlly got all the bits together, pump fuel tank etc, ive wired it up it does start up but loads of smoke and i mean loads!! it wont kick in if set on position 1 but will on 4 is this the norm? also there is a black box with a few wires going in and a white thats not connected to anything does any know were this is supposed to be connected to ? ive look on the wiki link to eberspacher but all there info is for the newer d1lc compact with all the relays etc internal mines the older with them all out side?

if it will only start on max, and smokes a lot i would be looking at cleaning the glow plug and atomiser basket, and check the fuel pump filter is clean.

the black box you describe could be an hour timer, send me pix and i'll tell you.

i never knew they had a filter where is it and how do you get into it to clean all the bits as i dont want to break anything!!! i'll take some pictures tommorow and try and post them on here !!!!

hi i tried to take some pictures today but had a hell of a day and they came out rubbish!! oh well i hope to get better ones tommorow! but can anyone tell me how to clean out the filter glow plug etc as in how u get them out !!!!!

the filter is in the tank end of the pump, undo the 17mm nut that is the pipe fitting and its tucked inside the pump housing, wire basket, be gentle
