Bleeding brakes.....

I have fitted T5 calipers front and rear with T5 servo and master cylinder.
I can do a 'basic' gravity bled and get things nearly right* but when I try with my Sealey vacuum bleed kit all I get is extraneous air (leakage between nipple threads??), doesn't seem capable of drawing fluid.
I attach bleed tube etc to nipple, operate vaccum pump which draws the required vacuum 21inHg which holds reasonably well, crack nipple 1/4 turn, lots of bubbles in receiver.
What am I doing wrong?
Are T5 calipers not design for vacuum bleeding?
Or what??

* That's hard pedal at about 25% pedal deflection with engine off, pedal down to the floor with engine on.
PS No fluid leaks from system.
