It's a late van so watercooled but is it petrol or d****l ?
If it's a petrol and you do low mileage the answer is normally to take it for a good run, after 10 minutes the tappets normally clear and quieten.
If it's a d****l .... it's probably perfectly normal and how do you hear it above the normal racket that's going on back there

Hi John and welcome to the asylum. What Kev is trying to say, in his usual subtle way, is turn caps lock of mate, as it is the equivalent of shouting.
So, you can hear your tappets. I wish i could hear my tappets above all the other noises. Like, wife, dog, kids, heater and all the other wee van noises you'll come to love.
