The water tank pump has packed up on my van, well it spins but there's no suction or output. So I was wondering if anyone has fitted a 12V fuel pump as a replacement ?
Any thoughts ?
Thanks

Did it run out of water?
might need priming.. suck the tap while its trying to pump
Or as Jason says .. caravan accessory shop

Is it a submersible or an inline one. I bought a cheapo' inline' one to replace mine which leaked, and got no results at all. Ended up buying a Shurflo one about £70 if I remember, but works really well

If it's a submersible pump, has the hose from the pump outlet to the tap come off at the pump end? That's what happened on my previous van.

No pump is an inline under the rear seats/bed. I'll try giving it a prime but if not I'll replace it.

if its spinning, its working, unless the impeller has come loose from the motor shaft ( happened to mine once)
if you take the pipe off, you can see the impeller, and see if its spinning.
most likely need priming if the pump isnt below the outlet of the tank.
a good suck on the tap will tell you, then either move the pump to a lower level than the outlet, or fit a priming bulb

All sorted, pump just needed priming. Fortunately the van came with a hand held bellows pump. Held this over the sink tap whilst pressing the pump switch and within 20 seconds, water was flowing. All ready for the first weekend away now.
Thanks for the suggestions.
