Planning my first away trip this weekend and would like to fill up the campervan with water for the tap but want to fill it up and drain it to flush out any cr*p there maybe inside it. How do i empty the tank..............

Again apologies for these random numpty questions.

I found a cap under my campervan undid it and presto wet arms and road.
dont know if that helps cos mines a westie but would imagine yours would have a similar cap.

My Autohomes Kamper has got a button on the floor which operates the water pump. All I do is stand on it and let the water
run out. The waste water comes out of a pipe under the right side of the sliding door.

If it's like my Autohomes water tank that is moulded to fit under rear seat , then there is no drain tap on the bottom only access is from the top , I took mine out to give more storage and I never used it anyway , I found the sink to small and prefer to use a washing up bowl , when I refurb the inside , sink is going as well .

I guess best method to clean is puriclean tablets and pump it all out then flush through with clean water a couple of times , when I took mine out I thought it was a bad design as far as cleaning goes

Thats right i've just moved a few things and yes there is no drain tap underneath the van only a big black cap under the rear seat. A bit of a design let down i guess?

Can I add the point about making sure that your water is clean and that the inside of your water container has been sterilised.
I have a Devon so can actually get hold of and remove the big blue water container at the back. It looked ify inside and I was not happy about it.
However, I am also a home brewer so had access to sterilising solution.
It is well worth making sure your container and pipes have been saturated in sterilising solution, left for a while and then the whole thing flushed through with clean water a couple of times.
I would recommend that you empty the tank at the end of a season and go through the sterilising process at the beginning of the next season.
I also empty and refill between each trip.

Ditto!......there ain't one on Autohomes. You have to sterilise it every so often but we use those large mineral water containers from supermarkets and re-use that for drinking water and use the main tank for washing up, etc. You need to keep the pump immersed in water when laid up as they just pack up shortly after you start to use them again if left dry. A few have reported the same problem but I don't know why they fail.

I siphon our water tank to remove most of it, and then with a wet and dry hoover suck up the crud from the bottom. Parking on a slope really helps, especially if it drains the water to the opposite corner of the tank, then the crud goes to where you can get it. This assumes that you have a top opening lid on the tank.

Keeping it full or empty when not in use is good, the water from the tap contains chemicals that keeps it fresh for months in the pipes underground, so it is ok in the tank for some time as long as it is in darkness.

A cheap brita type water filter restores flavour.

I just take the cover off the foot water pump switch and put a couple of crocodile clips across the contacts and let the pump empty it. I haven't got any 'crud' in my tank and I do sterilise it albeit only occassionally as I'm using it a lot.
