Vibration through steering wheel

Finally got my 81 a/c 2 litre back on the road. All is well bar at higher speeds (60mph+) there is an intermitted wobble/vibration through the steering wheel. Was having trouble deciding whether it was linked to engine speed or wind. Both more and less throttle seemed to solve it for about 10-15 secs.
Wheels have just been balanced with new tyres. What else would cause the vibration?
Thanks

Try swapping the wheels about,I have had wheels balanced before and found that one was still slightly out of true causing wobble at certain speeds.
failing that u could try and check yr wheel bearings and track rod ends for play but if its developing at certain speeds its prob balancing.
Its worth just checking neither of yr front wheels is slightly buckled.A lot of tyre centres will fit and balance wheels regardless of 'minor' run out.!!!

It could even be the new tyres, not being perfectly round.
I had that many years ago on one of my minis
