They look a little squashed don't they, or are they supposed to look like that.
Don't worry Tony, put it on the list for F&G

Is that why the spring looks a little compressed, in the 1st piccy you can see that it's not sitting straight.
Does it drive ok?

They do look a bit odd in the first pic.
A set of Avo's me thinks, that's what I would do.
If I could afford it.

Dampers Collapsed? they have nothing to do with the amount of spring compression.
Is the van sitting level?
Are all the coils intact (springs not broken?)
Yes? then what are you worrying about. Must admit the coils always look tight/not much space on a T3 even more so when they are this age.

Have my dampers collapsed?
no
dampers or shock absorbers do exactly what the are called.
they just damp or absorb shock.
They do not support the vehicle at all.

Looks more like a spring problem to me...
Dampers do as the word suggests...Damper. They stop the spring from bouncing....and keep it under control....
Jack it up...(Support it on axle stands) and inspect it.
The damper has nothing to do with ride height.
Glenn.

It doesn't ride very well at all. It bottoms out and if you hit a bump whilst turning the tyre hits the arch. There is also a lot of squeaking and grinding going on. Cheers for all of your answers.

It looks like the spring is broken to me. Like the others say ,jack it up and have a look. The first pic looks like the spring is bent to one side, as if the broken part has moved round - or it could just be the angle of the picture.

broken spring and shot shock/s? it's not impossible that if you have a failed shock then the spring will work overtime and vis-versa
