Stripped sump threads

The sump plug threads (1987 1.9 watercooled DG engine) are stripped in the casing and I have now re-tapped to 16mm x 1.5 threads.
My sump plug sits inside a boss on the casing, not flush with the casing. any ideas what I can use without having to have one engineered?
Cheers
Jake

Try using a fibre or a rubber washer to take up the gap between the plug & the boss. Failing that, try filing it to get a good contact that's level with the plugs' mating face.

Hope this helps.

Nip along to Evans Halshaw with your micrometer and ask for a Diesel Escort Sump plug and oil seal, check the size before you pay and Bob's your uncle,,,,, :D

Thanks people. when I removed my sump plug. I discovered it too was a converted spark plug!
however the sump threads were stripped too.
I tapped out the sump to 16mm x 1.5 thread (no need to drill larger hole)
Today I went to a local car parts shop with a drawing of what I needed and bought a renault sump plug.
Fitted tonight and all ok.Job done
Thanks for your moral support
