Petrol tank neck size

Hi all, I recently found a hole in the petrol tank on my 81 bus.
So I purchased a replacement petrol tank, but found the hole where the filler goes is a smaller size 50mm. I am unable to fine a replacement tank with the larger hole 70mm to accept the metal filler neck.
I am thinking I can just buy the 50mm filler neck which I think is plastic and associated grommets.
Has anyone been through this issue or have any advice ?

Thanks in advance

I swapped our knackered late one for an early one and back again ... you swap the tank, neck and flange ( ) there's a write up in the Wiki on how to do it but the hardest job is undoing the collar round the flange ( ) and getting the breathers back in the top of the tank grommets.

Enjoy ! :rofl

I can side with Ian on that one - the breather pipes/expansion pipes are a pig to put back in - make sure the tank is totally empty when you lower it as they are heavy when your on your back trying to stop it from falling  onto your face!

Cheers guys, the tank is already off and in the skip, so no worries there. RIght will get a new filler neck etc ordered. I have to say it dig look a bit of a pig when I saw all the hoses on top.
Had a look on the wiki could not see anything about the hole sizes

Thanks again for the advise
