Whats the best for painting under the van?

Lot to be said for old engine oil - creeps into gaps. Whatever you use, you need to avoid sealing in moisture and rot. Hammerite is good stuff tho.

Waxoil

google frost, loverly stuff

Hammerite or por 15 COVERED with waxoyl or blackstuff with waxoyl in it , preferably.

Can only use por15 on the rusty bits though. I read somewhere that it doesn't stick very well if the metal isn't rusty, because it's a rust treatment. But they also do something called Chassis Coat:
