Hi im pretty new to t25s and just wondering what engine this is, i know its a 1.6 d. Im having it taken out and stripped, new rings etc. Also i think the exhaust is moded to fit and need a new one as its blowing, Any ideas.




I have a leak on the drive shaft, is this a seal or are the bearings gone.

I'd say it was a 1.6d!

You must like it to warrant a rebuild - i'd be swapping it to a 1.9d...

What would i need to swap, obviously the engine but would i need to change the clutch gearbox ets etc

Looks like a M11 golf 1.6td engine maybe without the turbo reason why the exhaust has been modified to fit.The oil leak is difficult to see on the pict if its coming out of the gearbox where the drive shaft is its a flange seal worn.Done a replacement myself cost for the seal aprox £13.00 from VW its on the wiki how to do it.If the gearbox works okay replace the seal and keep the gearbox plus new clutch.Question has the engine cover hatch got a raised area over where engine injection pump is if it has its a TD pump.

Aint there suposed to be a battery in the derv bay ????

I was told it used to be petrol. And yes their is a moded raised bit on the lid. The engine runs fine just smokes a bit under load but not massive amount, its breathing heavy, my mate said it needs new rings. Looks like theirs oil comin from the manifold, out the end of the dip stick and comin from the sump plug. Gonna get it out tomo and see if its worth savin, my money is a bit tight at the min so i just wanna see if i can get it from leaking oil and smokin and smellin of burnt oil. Drove from manchester to Conway the other week no problems stuck in traffic for 2 hours too, just had loads of oil up the back door thats it.
