Big inverter (around 2500 watt), connected to the leisure battery (12v) then on the 240v side conected through the hook up socket to the consumer unit to run any appliance up to the max wattage including an charger to keep the battery topped up?????

Yes and no, you could feed an inverter into the consumer unit to feed the vans 240 volt systems, no problem there but if you run at near the 2500 watt levels your talking about you will need some serious batteries to get any useful life, at 2500W an efficient inverter will draw around 12-15 amps from your battery, even if you could draw all the power from a battery (and most inveters will stop working when the battery is about 80% discharged) that's only a few hours from 70AH battery.

As for running the charger from it as the inverter is only 90% efficient at best and the charger probably less you would nerver recoup what the charger uses.

Also given the cost of such a powerful inverter you would be better to look out for one of the ultra quiet petrol generators that are going about now, I saw a stall using one at our local market (think it was a honda but not sure) and I thought it was one of those little compressors for blowing up tyers it was so quiet.
