Basic Tool Set

Hi

Just wondered if anyone could advise on a core set of tools that I should make sure I have for basic maintenance and small jobs that aren't too tricky to handle.

I have a tool box that contains a socket set, adjustable spanner, flat blade/philips head and a HAMMER! but that's about it!

I have a 1985 Water Cooled 1.9 engine.

TIA
Sarah

The Wiki (top of the page) has a very extensive list of tools noted down.

The one thing I have learnt in the 18 months of ownership and maintenance is that cheap tools will cost you more! I have destroyed two socket sets and caused myself untold physical damage and setbacks from not buying good quality tools! I find if you find out what tools you need for a job (and to get out of the common problems like stuck/rounded bolts etc) and then price them in so as to spread the cost.
