can anyone suggest a way of stopping black lines running down my nice new paint work -by the way its adeeper shade of yellow -would vasaline work smeared on top ?(waiting for funny's) !

You could try that... Can't do any harm anyway! Usually streaks like that when rubber is getting a bit old.
Just make sure with the vaseline you rub it well in making sure every crack is filled and don't stick your fingers back into it when they're covered in black rubber... Someones bound to ask how you got streaky bits in your vaseline pot!
