we stayed at a great little site last week, on a farm in in Kent (Manor Court Farm). chickens running around, fresh eggs available and fire pits for lighting camp fires in the evening. we had a fantastic time and the kids loved it. will try and post some photos later!

the woman who owns the land told us about a website called http://www.campfiresburning.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which has lots of sites where you can light fires, if that's your thing! my kids love toasting marshmallows Looks like lots of the sites are quite small and basic, on farms. don't think I've seen it mentioned on here before, so thought I'd share!

We stayed in Manor Court Farm in March this year, it is indeed lovely isn't it! Going again with a group of friends for my 30th birthday next month, it's perfect as there is also a B&B for those that are not into camping at all!

We mostly go to sites that allow campfires, it's what campings all about for us, and weather permitting cook most of our meals on the fire too!

We use the site you listed as well as UK campsite and happy campers pages, both list sites all over the uk that allow fires and the uk campsite one lists some in france too.

Thanks for those campsite web pages, we have just got back (only 35 miles) from this secret location in the heart of Exmoor, such a beautiful site I have not seen, and the weather was not fab, but with a fire roaring, kids playing with axes and saw's, dogs running free, and a bunch of other hardy campers a great time was had.

Thanks for the tip about Manor Court Farm..I,m arriving heathrow 23rd April & picking up an Eriba..so based on yur visit I have booked a couple of nights, they seem quite friendly

our pitch was really big, but because we wanted to keep the van on the concrete because of the rain (long story!) we had to use the awning as a stand alone tent, which worked well anyway. As you can see, the neighbours were a little too friendly at times We were quite near the road and could hear the traffic, didn't boter us at all though and was very quiet at night. I'd recommend asking about going away from the road if you want that "away from it all" feeling though. We loved our pitch though, views across farmland with a huge fallen tree trunk for the kids to mess about on!
