FUEL CONSUMPTION /CARB CONVERSION

FEW MONTHS AGO BOUGH AN 81 T25 PETROL AIR COOLED TWIN CARB 2L DEVON VAN
DRIVES BEAUTIFULLY + GENERALLY IN VGC -THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS FLUEL CONSUMPTION -EVEN ON LONG TRIPS OF ONLY 14MPG -HAS BEEN FULLY SERVICED + MECHANIC THEN HAD IT BACK IN -EMISSIONS VERY GOOD EVEN WHEN WARM

HE TELLS ME HE THINKS IT MUST BE THAT THE COKE IS STICKING ON
HE HAS SUGGESTED A WEBER SINGLE CARB CONVERSION ASHE SAYS THE NEW CHOKE UNITS ARE EXPENSIVE THEREFORE WHY NOT PAY A LITTLE MORE + CONVERT
I'M A BIT WORRIED AS SOME SRTUFF ON NET SEEM QUITE NEGATIVE ABOUT THIS CONVERSION -ANY IDEAS RE CONVERSION OR SOLUTION TO PROBLEM

choke units are peanuts for the solex

sorry, but summat is well buggered there!

my old air cooled 2.0 does 25mpg


P.S: how are you measuring consumption? ONLY way is:

1) brim full - empty - brim full

2) convert litres into gallons (4.54, i.e 45.4 litres = 10 gallons)

3) divi miles by gallons - I got 320 on 12 1/2 gallons = 25mpg

first of all we need to know how you are working out your consumption.
then we need your CO, HC, O2 reading from the emmissions.
If your emmissions are good I doubt it's the choke

Finaly always say no to Weber... it's a no brainer
