Guys I need your help, am I a cantankerous old git or is someone trying to shaft me
VW
T25 T3 lower front panel
This is the complete lower half of you T25 front end.
Has been cut off all in 1 part, this is completly rock solid all over including the gutter where they are normally rusty.
Couple bits of minor surace that would sand off.
Ideal replacement for restro project as you will know you can not buy these and good ones are hard to find.
Ideal replacement

I thought cracking description, that will do for me it's from a well known Ebay VW parts dealer with 2000+ feedback I can't go wrong :D

This is what I got

IMAG1.jpg

You can see that the left hand side is a different colour to the right hand side that would be because its a different panel that has been welded in, the patch to the right of the yellow chalk mark is a fairly poor reinforcing patch

IMAG2.jpg

Note across the top the Vw spot welds finish and the mig welding starts. Now the reply i got to this was "As far as I know and from the 20plus I have seen all the panels are welded together like that from factory. The panel is a solid panel compared to most"

Now I was wondering if you guys could check your vans for me and just confirm that VW did indeed make the front panel out of 2/3 one bit (spot welded) and 1/3 another bit mig welded. Cos i don't want to make a fool of myself if this is the case.

When I asked for a refund it was offered but only if I pay to return it. Now for me that's going to cost £50 or more.
I started a "materially not as described" claim with PayPal and the vendor had again offered the refund on return if I pay for it.
PayPal have taken the path of least resistance and have decided this is a compromise despite the item obviously not being as described.

My options appear to be keep the panel and bin it loose £115
Send it back get my refund and be and be £50 out of pocket for believing the guys advert.
Contact my card issuer who I paid PayPal with for a refund (PayPal's suggestion) which they will give me and he can sort the collection of the panel out himself
Send the panel back then raise a claim in the small claim court for the cost plus expenses which given civil cases are balance of probabilities and the above evidence, I'm more than likely to win.

Am I being too awkward?, as ii dont know that many other vans in Aberdeen do all your vans look like this?

Thoughts anyone

(and lets not talk about the surface rust)

Never mind of how many parts this bit should or shouldn't consist, this

this is completly rock solid all over including the gutter where they are normally rusty.

is a complete lie as well. The gutter may appear rust free looking at it from the front, but it's a bout three more rain showers away from total scrap from behind ...and more importantly, from insise as well.

Don't argue with this guy ...relaese the hounds

threaten them with trading standards. if you paid on a visa then they will refund your money, and just take it back from the trader, it will be up to him to collect it. he most certainly will not bother though.

You can buy these panels brand new from Tristar Connection on ebay.de. Id go after the seller as you have clearly been screwed. Im going after a guy in Wales over a Mercedes which was clearly 'over described'. There is a ready market for solicitors with ebay descriptions and I believe ebay should clean up their act. About 5% of my ebay transactions have been troublesome in some way or another

If you decide to pursue the guy make sure you keep hold of the item because the Visa company will want it. I made the mistake of giving a Breakers in Cambridge (scum that they are) a fortnight to recover a knackered and in fact incorrect part which they supplied as good and correct for my model. THe garage had stripped it to try and salvage something out of it and had got rid of some of the bits (the totally goosed bits) so I didn't have all of it. The mongrels wouldn't speak to me once they had supplied the duff diff so I tried to recover the money through VISA. They couldn't help because I had disposed of part of the diff. So make sure it is in the condition it came in and claim it back through your Visa.

Paypal ahhhhh

as the vendor Isent daft he has offered a refund on the basis I pay to return the thing, no one is goingto reimburse me this cost.

Paypal have taken the path of least resistance and said this is fair to keep everyone happy and as such im thinking refund on my credit card then the vendor can do as he likes to get the bloody thing back.

Im sooooooooooo pleased i didnt pay Paypal out of my back account as they keep asking or i would have been shafted.

nice to see this isent how Vw made the vans origionaly except for the last 20 or so that this guy has seen that are all like that!

Forget PayPal and just claim back from your credit card co. - I had much the same scenario but no goods, Paypal didn't want to know but my credit card people refunded straight away (£200+). Once the credit card co. has refunded in full (tell them that you are holding the goods awaiting collection by the seller)and given the go ahead for return, notify the seller that the goods are ready for collection.(paypal and ebay both say that the buyer pays return but that no longer applies as they have washed their hands of it).The goods are still the property of the card people until you have repaid them! This is one reason I always use a cr. card for high value items on EBay.

AS HE SAID, but a letter explaining an intended court date sometimes works, give them 7 days to collect it first (also in writing).

Hey mate, I live in the fabulous Granite City too, come and have a look at mine if that will help.

Would be good to meet up with someone else, to share woes.
