Electrical Issue 1.6 TD

After having decided to wire in some LED lights for the dash, from G2 on the back of the fuse box, the van decided not too start.
Basically a bunch of the electrical systems stopped functioning.
Va turns over (starter motor), headlights, heater fan, interior lighting and gauges work.
Cooling fan, fuel pump, coil circuit, indicators, alarm don't.
Went through a check of the connections and for any loose/corroded earths, with no joy.
However I discovered that when I put the hazards on, it seems to rectify the problem as everything turns on as normal, and after coil light died down, the van starts and runs fine.
The only residing problem is the indicators don't work, I am left with a faintly glowing indicator LED tho!
So other than the earths being corroded, anybody got any ideas as to where i can check next???

UPDATE. When pulling in home last night, used the hazards to indicate i was stopping and whole van cut out, now using the hazard switch to kick start the electrics and start the van no longer works.
Urgently need some more advice as the van is not parked correctly really.
So spent a while cleaning all these contacts behind the dash, either side, and have still got the same problem, hardly any electrics and van turns over but still wont start.
Any idea why, if its a hazard switch problem,
which this seems to indicate, if i pull out the relay or the switch the problems are still there???
Cheers

Hello all,
So finally have the van working again, but with original issue, in that van turns over fine, but will only start once the indicators or hazards have been flicked on.
Does this mean I have an earth fault somewhere?
I have already cleaned all the earths under the dash (both hedgehogs) the hazard relay, and the hazard switch.
Confusion has really set in on this one.

Back to the top, anybody else have any ideas??

The only outstanding problem is the battery charge light is staying on, as the alternator is not charging properly, gonna change the regulator unit, but this is a seperate issue I think??
