Well after yesterday taking off my hub caps and cleaning my wheels i thought they looked better without the dented hubcaps so left them off.
Driving today my speedo suddenly stopped working so when i stopped i noticed that the cap had disaperared.
Does anyone know where to get them? Or what the vag cat number is? I can't find them on there.
Thanks

grease cap. part no 251407691A vag cat only shows the one.so dont know if this is the one with the hole for the speedo.you will also need the small circlip that stops the speedo cable from slipping through the cap part no N 0124342

Thanks Rob,
I took a little walk down the road to see if i could find the cap this morning and low and behold there it was in the gutter.
Does this clip thingy hold the Cap on or just stop the speedo cable slipping.
Thanks

c clip is just to hold the cable in place, you'll need to slightly deform the cap so it is a tight interference fit on the hub, but sometimes they split and then will always fall off

On mine the speedo cable is "secured" with what looks like silicone sealant.

VW ALWAYS have the circlip. They may be out of everything else you need but they always have that circlip.

that's a familiar sounding story ... got the circlip and the sealant over the top as well, I just assumed it was to stop water getting in and had always been like that??

I recently replaced the speedo cable on my westy,i needed to buy a "c" clip for the cap, ordered ONE from g.s.f went to collect the parts and had to buy a box of 20 clips as"thats how they come"
they were only a couple of quid though

.
haynes manual tells you to cover the end of cable with silicone to stop the ingress of water into the wheel bearing.
