Hi all...again!

Just wondering how you find the automatic T25s to drive? Are there any particular issues with automatics? We have seen a 1.9 automatic for sale that looks quite promising but thought we would come and gain some advice from you wonderful lot first!

Cheers.

1st post so be patient!!!

Ive got a 1981 2ltr Aircooled Auto Devon and absolutely love it.

Obviously heavier on fuel but I aint that bothered as only do small miles per year. Not sure if AC auto 'box is same as water cooled auto 'box so cant comment on particular issues but I guess common sense comes in to play and as long as you keep a regular eye on the fluid level and condition and change the fluid every few years or so you should be ok

Driving is a piece of cake. Will do 60 with a wind behind it and is totally relaxing, especially in town.

I must admit I was a bit sceptical even when I bought it but wouldnt change it now :)

My father in law also has an air cooled auto and he loves it too. He wouldnt go back to a manual now

I have a 1985 Auto Sleeper Hi-Top 1.9 DG automatic. It is great to drive and cruises at 70mph on the flat although I usually stick to about 60 and get 22 mpg. It can be a bit tricky manouvring in tight spaces if it is bumpy or an a slope. You ease the accelerator down and it suddenly jumps forward. In traffic it is great, it just trundles along and is so relaxed. Because the 1.9 DG is so gutless it is a bind on hills and I would have changed down long before the autobox, it seems to hang on to the gears too long. All in all though I like the autobox and would recommend it
