I've never had a vehicle with all the fancy bits that my Westy has. The whole running water in a vehicle is a complete unknown to me.

Is it safe to cook and drink the water that comes out of my tap? I filled the fresh water tank with my garden hose connected to my kitchen tap. Is there anything I need to do to make it safe to drink? Is it okay to leave water in there for any length of time? Do I need to drain it frequently? Can I only drain the fresh water tanks by running the tap down the drain inside the camper?

What do I do with my grey water? Can I just let it drain down the street drain in front of my house. Its just drain water from washing hands and doing dishes.
Also. I was a litle surprised to find my grey water tank empty after running water down my sink drain during the weekend. I didn't see it leaking at all. I wonder where the water has gone.

Any other tips for managing fresh and grey water in my camper?

We used puriclean (nearly all caravan places sell it) to sterilise clean water tank and then flushed it a few times with clean water.
Miltons the stuff for baby bottles is similar you can get that from asda or tescos.

we have only ever emptied our grey water at camp sites as thats the only time its ever been full.

I drink the water from the tank in my westy, fill it with hose also. If your hose pipe is on a reel make sure you let the water run for a while to get rid of the (stale) water that is in the hose itself. I've not run the water through first and put the hose straight into tank and the water has had a funny taste to it. I also drain the water out of tank aftereach trip! Drain plug/cap is under bus just ahead of rear wheel on left hand side. Much quicker than using tap!
Waste water: the waste water tank has 2 screw caps on it, the small one is like a tap, when fully un screwed it lets the waste out (think yours must be screwed out/open) , screw it shut and it holds waste in tank. If i'm camping on grass i tend to leave it open and let water soak into ground, close it when on hard standing and empty it when home.
The Big screw cap is just a drain and can be taken off to flush tank clean!
Small cap doesnt come off!

I think the rule is to have a smaller grey waste tank than your onboard water tank. I'm now thinking of a grey waste
tank after having to replace the drinking water tank due to contamination by the garage. It was so easy.
