My van currently is all windows, I'd really like to blank the rear side windows, is there a recommended way to do it? Is it best ust to replace the rear/side upper panel? I haven't seen this panel advertised on supplier sites, do people just use a sheet of flat steel?
Thanks
Michael

is yours a factry window van or panel van conversion?
best way is to cut the rear panel from a panel van , that way you get proper metal and it has the proper curve on it.
also you can re weld the strengthener back in

I would have thought taking a rear panel off a panel van is the way to go too as you will get a good finish probably better than if you try welding a sheet of metal in place of the window. It will look like mine when your done

Thanks guys. If anyone finds a couple of holes in the side of their panel van, it wasn't me, I didn't do it...

I wanna do this to mine too (but the side just behind the wardrobe), and i've got a big flat sheet if steel to do it with. I know the panel is curved in both planes, so i was planning to cut lots of slits in the sheet to allow it to be bent in both planes, and fit it just below flush, and skim it with filler. If it looks cak, then i guess i'll have to track down a van panel

You could always replace the glass with a sheet of plastic in body colour.
You would still see the shape of the window - due to the rubber - but a lot easier!

I guess it's not unrealistic to flush-bond a sheet of smoked or body colour plastic. Or even bond the sheet in then paint it, you'd see a seam then but that would be all.
Goes off to think some more....
