Fuel not getting to carbs

Hello wise people.
I've been messing round trying to sort this problem for a while now without success. I've got a 2 litre Aircooled CU motor with twin Weber 40's.
I not getting any petrol flow to the carbs. I removed the fuel pump, took it apart cleaned it up and tested it. I've now put all the lines back together (after blowing compressed air through), but till nothing. I'm left thinking that the problem lies with the push rod for the pump. Is this something is prone to going wrong?
As I'm running webers, should I instead be going down the route of discarding the mechanical pump and going electric?

Any help greatly appreciated.

electric pumps have been fitted there's an artical in the wiki about this.

Take off pump and push mechanism on bottom of pump fully up and down by hand until fuel comes out. Sometimes just needs a little hand to get things going!
Would check the length of the pushrod though, they can wear and cause the problem you mention.

Cheers. (E D I T..That's cheers for all the reply's, by the way :) ).
I'll try a little manual persuasion, and take it from there. If the pushrod is worn. is there any consensus where to buy another?

With a little manual persuasion, and a trickle of petrol down the carbs, she fired up lovely. Thanks again.
