intermittant heater

I had a problem with my heater cutting out and loss of coolant. Took it to a garage and found the water pump was leaking. I replaced it and the thermostat. Last trip I had the heater quit on me again but for just a few minutes. I thought there must be another leak but no loss of coolant. What else could be the cause? There wasn't any significant variation in the water temperature either.
