Starter motor then?

Well got some jump leads on the batt and to me it just sounds like the starter isn't turning quick enough?!?
I just found my receipt and some thieving get charged me £80 to refurb it 6years ago (probl 10,000 miles or less done since then) Do you think it could be the starter? The receipt just says make good the starter...
It has the same symptoms as last time also it seems to have a higher pitch whine than I remember.
Finally where from new Gsf?
Am i gonna get one for a 1983 na derv?
Have I missed something?
Dave

A new starter bush should sort that problem. A giveaway is the higher pitched whine, does this when the bush needs replacing.
Might break the bank though.. £1 usually! :D

Soak new bush in engine oil overnight before fitting though.

As Rob says, should last longer than 6 years but mine only went on for two years before giving up the ghost. Luck of the draw on quality I think.

Brill news if it is chaps as more than a bit skint!
One final question honest looking at the exploded view of 'a typical starter' in Haynes and cant pick out the bush?
Is it more easy once the starter is apart to identify?
