Had a german guy visit me yesterday. He worked at the vw factory in the seventies. When he retired he was given one of the 4wd bay window vans. I have seen pictures of it. It has the tailpipe exiting through the rear bumper. It has been stored in a barn, and mice have eaten the electrics etc. Its available for cheap.
PM me for details.
Pete.

There is a 1978 Bay Westie 4WD in the VW Museum. I crawled underneath to see the 4wd layout and take a few pics. Got funny looks.... :D

This is April the 1. The 4x4 bay in the museum is the only one left in existance. There are a few other home made ones about though.

Notice the driveshafts - front and rear - have Hardy Spicer Cardan U Joints as opposed to Birfield Joints (CV joint to the great unwashed )
