Hi Highlander

she goes like stink :D :D not sure on mpg not done a long journey yet but i think the combination between the dells and the mallory should be a massive improvement :D

The dells are the right choice just make sure you have the right jets and venturi's, i have .2 emulsion tubes, 30 venturi's, 55 idle's, 130 mains, 175 air and 35 pumps.. that gives me a nice round performance. What makes the difference is the Mallory Unilite with vac advance, you benefit from being able to set the advance curve and speed to whatever you want giving you maximum spark at the right time you can also open up your spark plug gap and benefit from a bigger stronger spark, throttle response is very impressive :D they are expensive but well worth the money.. i also match ported the manifolds to the heads and balanced the pistons.. its all the small perfection jobs that sound anal that make the big difference.. The only thing im not happy with is the exhaust is too loud but i have run out of money to change it now  :D :D

OMG, most of that went right over my head, but thanks, I think lol
I just want to try and keep it simple really. Someone said to just replace the carbs with 34 ICT's but was thinking maybe 40's but was worried about having to pull my own tanker behind! I'm not as mechanically minded as yourself.....unfortunately

ooooppsss sorry :D na forget the ict's load of old crap and not worth the money but thats only my opinion!!! they are not exactly an upgrade from a good well setup set of standard solex's!! get some decent dell's... with the right jets and chokes you will have a better fuel economy depending how you drive!!! having the right jets and chokes is crucial..... for more advice on dells just go to VZI and look in the Dell Swapshop which is under "Items for Sale (auto) lots of very experienced guys on there with usefull tips and advice :)
