Okay, I have just fitted a fantastic second hand aaz engine to my T25, (the old aaz expired)
Fitted:
New clutch
CV boots
timing belt kit

was well pleased... second hand engine came without turbo so fitted old (aaz turbo). Went to take for MOT this morn and huge pool of oil under turbo/ exhaust (correct oil level).

Van has nasty "home made" exhaust by previous German engine convertor attached to aaz turbo....

Is this the opportunity to fit a JX turbo? and correct exhaust? - running out of money need advice on where to get one - possibly a reconditioned one?????

Please help as I am getting really down with what should be a good van.
cheers,
Alex

First of all check or inspect the oil return pipe from turbo to sump, this pipe has to be as straight as possible as it is gravity feed only, plus it may have a slight blockage so oil build up in turbo only way out is through turbo exhaust downpipe flange, if oil is building up in that area it will be blown out of exhaust pipe aswell big splatter patch on floor, If turbo is shot you would get clouds of black smoke from exhaust, ie oil seals gone on turbine shaft,--------------- :ok

I would stay with the aaz turbo setup - if you need to change it to a JX exhaust setup you will have to buy the JX exhaust manifold... TBH, i thought the turbo's were the same - just indexed differently...

As Grumpy Midget says - check the oil feeds into the turbo first - its could just be a leak?

Top info chaps - it sounds like it may be a pipe blokage actually, lots of oil in exhaust, I was a little down hearted but I will push on and have a proper look tomorrow,

thanks again both.

JX Turbo bigger than AAZ Turbo, yes you would need an exhaust manifold and connecting pipe and an exhaust but then all your bits would be off the shelf and no scratch built exhausts.
