Just need a bit of a whinge. After looking around all the breakers yards near me with no joy looking for a 1900 1Y engine I went onto one of the used car spares sites. Now what I asked for was "a complete engine 1900 type 1Y" Had seven quotes ranging from £250 to £600. Called them all back and didnt plug for the cheapest but the one that sounded most genuine. Paid with VISA and "it will be with you Monday" didnt happen and started to worry a bit and phoned them "sorry staff shortage be with you Wednesday" And it turned up today...good you might think. Engine was minus injector pump and pipes, vacuum pump and alternator. I havn,t got a clue what to do now as when I phoned them tonight he said a complete engine does not include anciliaries and the pump would be another £170. He quoted for a complete engine so what should a complete engine have ?
A very sad Pete

Yeah, never mind mate, trouble is I am just an ordinary bloke late 50,s and tend to trust people and always help others when they need it so all I ask is to be treated the same. I am not a violent person but my god if I lived anywhere near there I think I could be grrrrr! Never mind I have booked a week off next week and at least I can make a start. Upward and onward, chin up, I am British dont you know

Pete,
dunno if this is any help, but there are loads of breakers around here.....I can get to Sittingbourne as well if need be - bobbin breakers there.....and several commercial breakers locally (medway)
Now, if you contact them and they have the necessary parts, happy to collect them for you.....and meet at Thurrock or somewhere like that.....going past at easter. (Wish I could look for you, but i haven't a clue what the part looks like!!)
Just drop me a pm if you need anything picking up!
Em
x

His definition of a complete engine is different to yours (and mine!), will he give you a refund if you return the engine to him?

the engines usually come palleted for 50 quid postage so he wont get the postage back and prolly have to shell out another 50 quid to return it...100 quid for someone else's "frell" up...makes ya mad ,dont it

Not trying to rub it in but i was lucky enough to get a 1Y engine at a salvage yard that are well known in aldershot in surrey. It was still in the vehicle and could be started & heard running it was sold complete as seen & removed for £250.My advice is this if you can prove the goods where not as discribed try and get a charge back through your visa company.
