Are 1.9 DG pistons the same as 2.1 DJ?

and the barrels too?

No they are not the same, the 2.1 piston is about 3mm taller

i think i am right in saying that there is two different sorts for the 2.1 one set is higher compression and you would have to use super unleaded the other is lower comp and you can use normal unleaded, but in theory the higher comp will give you a better return on fuel. i think the higher comp ones are for the dj engine, check though as i am not `100% sure,

Yes there do seem to be two part numbers for the 2.1 pistons. the following taken from VAGCAT online...................
