engine help needed

just put my engine back in after doing the gaskets will start and run but will only drive for 5 min when its hot and just loses power judders then cuts out
im stuck i think it needs setting up again but i have not touched the carb at all
any ideas ?

Is the engine perhaps slowly flooding? If you've had the carb off check that it's bolted on tightly and there are no air leaks.

I'm originally from Barwell and pop back fairly regularly to see my parents, but not this weekend I'm afraid.

right i will check it does sound like theres an induction leak just cant find one i just dont want to make it worse
scared of the unknow :?
but would be cool if some one knew what to do.

im really stuck it will only run on choke anyone got any advise theres no induction leak on the base of the carb
theres fresh fuel ect
any ideas

Hi, mine's doing exactly the same thing, and I have had the carb off, I,ve also had new rotor arm and distributer cap, and no joy! I,ve come to the conclusion that the auto-choke's buggered, is yours man or auto? will tell you what it is when its fixed. :?

ye man its a auto water choke on a webber was fine before but now runs "pooh" kind of stuck

right still struggling got it to run of choke now but when i drive it after about 5 to 10 min it goes all sluggish and power less then cuts out normally around 30-40 mph there are no air leaks there is fresh fuel cleaned the float chamber out ect that made some difference but just keeps cutting out now :x

I had exactly this problem. We traced it to a manifold air leak, and eventually diagnosed a cracked head. Hopefully you don't have the latter, but the wiki has the full case study of how we got there: https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Fu ... _Air_leaks. HTH
