Carb Troubles

Have just had another visit from the AA, it would seem that the needle in the carb is sticking and cutting off the fuel supply (1.9 petrol 1990) - seems to be doing it at random moments every few weeks or so with no prior warning! Is it worth overhauling the carb or would I be better off getting a new one! Any suggestions greatfully received.

If you haven't changed the carb from the stock Pierburg I would highly recommend sticking with it and getting it serviced/exchanged.

Two years ago I fitted a Weber 34 DAT and recently sold my old Pierburg 2E3 on FleaBay to this bloke: http://bromyardvw.com/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . I spoke to him on the phone and he was VERY knowledgable about Pierburgs. If I'd known about him two years ago I would have got an exchange carb from him and not fitted the Weber.

I had this with my Solex carbs. A new needle valve fixed it, but I took the opportunity to do a rebuild at the same time - made a world of difference!
