Hi my sisters camper(fitted with zig cf8 and two batteries) has a power drain put multimeter between the posative on the battery and the lead that goes there andf get a 1.7 amp drain,
Gone through firstly removing the feed to the van i.e fusebox starter etc still a drain ok so its the zig or the split charge(im assuming wired via the zig)
if i remove the purple wire4 on the zig ( feed from 2nd battery ) drain goes now thing is nothing elese is wired to 2nd battery just the zig ,so ive gone through the items on the zig one at a time light water pump etc but still the drians there hum so then thought maybe the split charge relay is open so swapped that still the drain at a lost now any ideas?

Have you tried removing all the fuses on the CF8 panel and setting the switch marked 'Touring - On site' to the Touring postion and then checking for current drain? The fuses will isolate the leisure electrics and the switch isolates the ZIG from the battery. One of the fuses on the panel is the 240V a.c fuse for the ZIG and you can disregard this one. The Zig contains components that are not really user replaceable in the event of failure.

last time i came accross this it was the secondary winding of the transformer leaking.(trying to be a invertor basically) disconnected the transformer and the problem stopped. worth bearing in mind, but not maybe your problem at all.

CF8 can be used without a split charge relay. If you have only one relay it could well be for the fridge 12V option. You could post a question in the Camper forum as to whether the Holdsworth conversion uses a split charge relay and its location.

My fault i didnt relaise that the zig unit split charge isnt igintion controlled i.e whenver you pull over you have to switch it to site or it carries on split charging/draining!

Good chance to learn stuff and tidy up some wiring bodges 12v computer fan wired direct to battery with microphone coax anyone!

See i'm crashing this post now but I have a majour drain too to the point i have to disconnect my battery every night or were dead the next day! I have had several people look at it saying my battery (when enguine is running) is kicking out hte right amount so it must be when its off is all ican say! I don't no alot about anything ( my excuse is being a girl, not a good one tho!) all i no is i can't take it anymore, I have No zig unit in mine but i do have a lesuire battery and spilt charger, but i'm rebuilding the inside so its go nothing in yet! I did ring one autotechnician out the yellow pages in stoke but his fee was way beyond me!!
