Electrical fault on 1.6td syncro doka?

The water level warning light is flashing when driving along.Plenty of water in the system and heater is doing its job. I was told that it may be an electrical fault so had the alternator checked, was told it was duff and bought a new one but the light still flashes.

Battery turns engine no probs and the lights seem OK . Dip switch does seem a bit vague ie when dipping it doesn't click over straight away and the small light on the dash to the left of the glow plug light flashes slightly when going from dip to main and back. I'm also not convinced the fuel gauge is moving as far over as it should.

Any thoughts would be gratefully received.Al

it could be the level sensor on the expansion bottle.or dodgy connections on the senders(there are two)

often damp earths and or relay, pull all the relays out one at a time and put back in to clean contacts and spray some contact cleanner on the earth crowns next to fuse box. If dash light flashes and then goes out as it should and stays out for a bit and then comes on even with no fault then poor signal, poor sender, poor wiring are suspects.
If light always flashes never goes out then there's a continuity fault I think or relay is stuffed

Thanks to both of you.Plenty of possibilities to explore if it's not raining tomorrow. It is an intermittent fault which in some ways is more irritating than if something had just gone pop! Cheers.Al
