water jacket gasket gone been advised to get new engine

im not very good at mechanics so phoned my mechanic about doing my water jacket gasket
and was told i should be prepared to change the engine rather than fix water jacket gasket
is this right i have only just got my van wanted it sorted but what to do now

Hi Mate, and welcome to the club!!
Firstly, Don't panic......its all fixable!!
Now, I was you I'd be ringing Elite VW in Basildon 01268 581111. Speak to them about your engine. What they don't know really isn't worth knowing. They will also recover if necessary. They also do replacement engines if yours really has gone.
Or, if dosh is a problem, get a second hand one through the club - they come up fairly regularly. Choice is yours. Elite units carry a good warrenty, secnd hand units....well you takes your chances....
