my flush hook up makes some really nice crunchy sounds when you pull the cable out
its straight under the kitchen window near the bottom of the panel ,i was just thinking of welding up the hole and moving it to a point thats alot firmer,anyone got any good sugestions?...i can move it anywhere on the van.

The hook up on my van is positioned up over the rear drivers side wheel, think it was factory fitted, and seems solid enough for me.
However rather than cutting holes in the van would it not be possible to re-enforce the original one? From my experience with 16A cable connections they do get a good hold so are often hard to pull out so will put stress on the area where they're being pulled from.

One thing to add about my hook up is that it is starting to rust abit so i would op for fixing or strengthening your existing one, and not give water another area to start getting a hold by cutting holes.

or you could by one that bolts on and put it behind the rear number plate hatch.bolt it on the right hand side.we had one and it only took 4 small bolts to hold it on and when you close the hatch you cant see the bolts.....as the mearkats say .."simples"

That's where mine is and I took it off the other to see what rust I had behind the fridge. The screws were rotten and the plastic had gone brittle but the actual metal of the van seems unaffected so it might not be as bad as you fear.

all around it is solid its just the outer edges of the hole that have suffered the dreaded rust ,i didnt want to put it in the same place as that part of the van flexes quite a bit...as you say though i could stengthen it up.ive seen the rear ones and i might go that route as they are out of the way,so to speak.im very slowly working my way round the van doing bits that need filling/welding ready for the rustoleum and thought it might be better to rehome the socket.also behind the fridge hasnt any vents in the panels...dunno if anyone else has this set up but the vents are the ones below and above the front of the fridge,i was wondering if i should fit some to the outside ,but would this promote more rust in the future

Mines to the right of rear No plate seems solid going to stick my GB sticker on plastic flap to save the paint work.

mine was under the pop top had to elevate the roof to plug in, moved it above the rear offside wheel now, loads easier to get to

think im gonna go same as DSA's is,looks a good spot.cant really put it behind the flap cos theres just on room there to mount anything,took it off today and it was rusty all round the hole about an inch then its good metal.still unsure about wether to fit a vent or not

i have a rm122 2way fridge, and it too isn't vented to the outside.read somewhere once that if you are going to hotter climates and you need to keep the fridge running as efficiently as it can, you can add some small fans( like the ones that come in computers) into the grills,one blowing and one sucking, (one above and one below) to help with air circulation. venting the fridge outside is only used if the fridge is to be set into the units and there isn't enough room to vent it above and below.its all about heat dissipation really, if i get time later i'll try and find the info

well ive never had the thing running for more than a couple of hours so prolly wont need a vent but in summer,as you say could be a bit warm.
ive decided the hook up is going in the back,i think i can fit a flush one on there and im gonna weld up the hole fromthe old place and just see how the fridge copes this year.i can always put one in after,cant i .

weldore m8.... you work with steel... why not fit a nice big fat shiny piece of square stainless plate over the rot area, rivet it onto the van (if need-be through the body and then into another plate on the inside) -not going nowhere then!

Failing that; if you're looking to plate of over the bad area - chop it out and build fancy recess box if there is room inside

these are the things that are going through my head at the mo doug..which way to turn.the side that im preping for paint at the mo is the one with the hook up on..well it was till i ripped it out yesterday.so im inclined to weld it up and finish it off for paint but my van was ok on that side where as everyone else who has had vents fitted have had to replace floor and sills(from what ive seen and read anyway)but i was unsure as to wether i needed the vents or not

hmmm now im thinking ,if i already have a hole there then make use of it as you suggested...god if only i could make up my bliddy mind

well i made up my mind and its gone in the back to the right of the number plate...just need to re-route the cable


as you can see theres no hole under the window now

Mine is just behind O/S rear. As Holdsworth intended.
