The vehicle that all Syncro owners really aspire to:

Superb 70's footage, well worth a look
If you didn't want one before, you'll want one after!

Great find thomas, where did you dig that up from? I'd love to have a go in one of these off road, however in terms of on road handling/safety I understand that the Pinz is less safe than the syncro esp in the event of off centre colloision, there is no protection for driver/passenger except for a bit of pressed steel. Also I have read that high speed cornering is not recomended.

Great film. Pinzgauers are great bits of kit but the cost of ownership must be way higher than a Syncro, and they must have practical drawbacks (I don't fancy owning a canvas-hooded vehicle where I live..)
And a Syncro can be made very close to a Pinz, with suitable mods:

I was wondering just how good are these Syncs/T25 in a head-on.
It is something that goes through my mind (just like all the junk in the back of my van in the event of a head-on) while driving about.
Feel a bit better since putting on the 15' wheels. Reckon I'd end up on the bonnet of most cars.

I'll see if I can find it, but someone will be along before me...

They were crash tested (2 WD T25)against the old 740 volvos on the half on half, front end head on collision. The volvo pasangers(crash test bumies)
came off worse.

I have often wondered (usually while carrying 10 bags of plaster as I am coming up to a roundabout in the wet....) how good T25s were in terms of crashworthiness.
I feel quite vulnerable sat high up with not that much metal between my ankles and whatever I could hit.
If someone could find the video, that would be good.
Cheers,
Steve
PS those pinzgauer things look a bit like a Land Rover 101

that has cheered me up, as I like my wife and daughter to be safe as we go out in my van quite a bit.

Noe I'm worried...
I've got a volvo & a Sync.
Will have to try and keep them apart.

It was the big improvement over the Bay IMHO. You can see the crash protection in the door and under the dash and if you take the grills off you can see more.
On the other hand for those that carry large unsecured loads your safety is only going to be as good in a head on as your bulkhead.

Heh. That's a fairly modern Unimog isn't it? Looks familiar too, was it up for sale recently?
Not sure if I like the gleeful spectator hoping he's going to wreck it
