Anti roll bar mounts replacement

Hello,
We've got the dreaded MOT looming this month and remembered that on last year's the was an advisory note which reads 'offside front anti roll bar rubber mounting deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement'.
Thought I'd better get this sorted before this years' test and wondered whether my diagnosis was correct - is this likely to mean the 'd' shaped mount? If so, are these easy to replace and what is the best method to do these?
Looking forward to hearing the usual wealth of knowledge!
Many thanks in advance,
Chris

sounds like the one of the rubber bushes has started to split.
one at top where it joins the antiroll bar and two at bottom where it goes through lower suspension arm.
it still may only be an advisory.

The job's a doddle get it done, if you replace both uppers and the bottom ones too you'll know it's all OK.
Ian.

Cheers Guys.
Looked at the old Haynes manual last night in bed and looks fairly easy - even to a numpty like me. However, I know only too well from experience that nothing is ever straightforward on my van!
Thanks again for all your help...
Chris

Do the lot whole while you're at, mine looked OK while everything was in place but once I got them off it was a different story. It's not until you see an old bush up against a new that you realise how bad these things get (I'll post you before and after pics if you really want!!) I managed to get
all the ARB bushes, plates and spacers from VW for less than £45

cheaper than some others I could mention ... Powerflex not included
some useful reading?

Also, don't suppose you know VW part numbers do you for all ARB bushes? Did you have to order these in or where they stocked? Cheers, Chris

like previously mentioned, look at the rest
chanced are they'll be past their best
I've just replaced them all on my bus

tha's what was left
the brickwerks sells almost everything you'll need, the only bis he doesn't stock are the rubber bushes from the ARB to it's connecting link, they wre £3.70 from VW
I'll post the part numbers later

Hey dink! That looks like my bench at the mo!!! Just don't tell the misses cause I put the bits on the kitchen worktop to take the photo's!
Mine all started because the plate on the bottom of the Drop Link had rotted off and I'd also lost the lower bush

but i decided to take the ARB off and paint it as it was going rusty ...
I wasn't planning on replacing this one, glad I did, you can see how badly worn and mishaped it is
This one is the ARB to Drop Link bush, again you can see how badly mishapen/worn it is (the slit is where I cut it off the ARB)
And just for the fun of it the hourglass shaped spacers from the drop link
All the ones I removed were original VW so I'm guessing they've been on there since day one! ... not bad for coming up to 24 years old and 100k+ miles!!!!
As for part no's it all depends on the age of the van, best to go to VW with your chassis no. in hand but you can also get an idea of whats what from Vagcat. I was informed (not sure how reliable it was?) that the bushes/plates and spacers on the bottom of the drop link are all the same it's the other two that differ depending on the diameter of the ARB.
