Hi I hope you can help-I've just jumped in the Crewie for work and when i put my foot on the brake It's as hard as concrete,After driving around the block there was a little play but then straight back to solid,Is this an easy fix or to my mechanic cheers..Rob

sounds like a vacume problem.

petrol or diesel?

i take it brakes work ok , just stiff pedal?

just check the fluid level to make sure

Hi brakes were working fine yesterday-My mechanic did say that one calliper is sticking a bit but surely that would'nt make the pedal not move and what movement there is is very slight(2-3mm)and It's a diesel.Rob

This sounds definately like the brake servo is not working, problem is why....it could be the servo itself (the main diaphram has spit) on the other hand it could be vacuum supply: as in.. the one way valve has failed, the vacuum pump (if diesel) has failed or has low output, or perhaps the vacuum supply pipe is split.
The servo is the large dougnut shaped component that the master cylinder is attached to. You could start by pulling off and checking the vacuum to the supply pipe (pushes into servo)

Well I've finally got the Instrument panel off and the Master cylinder off(which I'll replace while I'm there)Do i have to take the dash out to get the servo/brake pedal out? cheers..Rob
