Fitted a 1Y engine a little while ago and fitted the VW manufactured oil pump taken off from the 1.6td engine.I have had no problems but recently the oil light took a little longer to go out from a cold start. So thinking to my self could this be wear or a blocked filter gauze in the oil pump.I replaced the oil pump with a Gsfcarpart supplied oil pump part number 15307 made by schadek the box it came in said oil pump transporter type 2 1.6/1.7 diesel (81 92 transporter type 2 1.6 turbo diesel .When comparing it to the VW made oil pump there was diffrences as like longer mounting bolts and oil pick up diffrent.i fitted it to day to hear a horrible knocking noise as like big end gone on starting. The 1Y engine did not knock before the GSF oil pump was fitted.I am thinking maybe its a problem wth the crank caps hitting the body of the oil pump.I am asking if any one else has had problems with GSF oil pumps.

have you tried turning it over by hand? surely if there is something hitting, you will feel the spot it hits and then can remove the sump and look.

It needs more than clearancing, it needs the t25 pick up pipe fitting on the new pump.

I had to grind a bit off mine to ensure it cleared. I didnt have any other issues after that.
The pickup looked the same to me on the one i got from GSF.
I now get mine from brickwerks as they are aware of the issue and their pumps are spot on....
I spend a lot of time in GSF but lately its been a bit of struggle with them. Its as though you have to "know" which GSF parts are ok and which are not.
For example, GSF wheel bearings are "not" apparently.... Why do they sell rubbish like that?
