Just putting my van through it's painful MOT.

Just got quoted £180 for the Silencer. I nearly screamed in pain, then looked online for 20secs and found GSF do one for £52 :ok feeling better now!

This is my first MOT with the wedge and i'm hating the experience so far, i bought it for £500 with full MOT so wasn't expecting miracles but its a very frightening time :?

This could cost me up to £400 quid for this trip to the garage and like i said the bugger only cost me £500.

Who else does this and is it really worth it :?:

Mine cost 5000 pounds and I've spent that on it... none of that went to a garage though.
learn to do your own repairs and it'll get cheaper

it's all relative
so get over it and just enjoy camping in it

I'm over it! I love it too much to get upset

This is my first motor, hence my first experience with an MOT.

I wish i had the space to do major work myself but i haven't, one day!

Yes my local exhaust fitter wanted over £400 for fitting a whole exhaust two years ago so I bought it from JK for £250 and fitted it myself. Apparently they struggle with the studs and bung £100 on top just in case! Learn to do such work yourself but plan it for the summer when it is warm outside. Or buy a new camper with a half baked guarantee starting at around £30k and still get stitched up servicing it to keep the warranty valid!

To keep mine in top condition, I put £30 away every week. That pays for everything including TAX, MOT, Insurance, bodywork and mechanical repairs. Fuel is extra.
