what awning would anyone suggest. we've got a 1986 T25 panel van thats got plenty of room for sleeping, however we want something to give us a bit more living space for cooking and other stuff. we want something with space and the option of adding a inner tent if later needed for sleeping. what would anyone suggest?

To be honest, I can't see why you can't just get a s/h large family tent and adapt one end to meet the door opening, unless I'm missing something here. To my mind, an awning is just a big tent with some fabric missing one end

Completely agree with Ian. Brought one last year, loads of space(it sat 7 of us during the rain at bestival with still loads of space for tables, chairs and large amounts of booze) and it goes up and comes down really quick.

Ours is the one Fritz is going on about. kit is right, it's big enough for P T Barnum to become agoraphobic, if you use it with the three ribs as a single area, but if you want "some extra space" you can't get more without attaching a house to the side of your van

Value for money wise, highly recommemd a Royal Traveller Tunnel from these guys

We used one a lot over here and then it had loads of hammer from being used daily for 6 months in Europe over last winter. Quick & easy to put it up, it gives loads of extra space & keeps your pitch for you when you go off for a drive about.
Comes with both pole/clamp fixing & awning channel cord sewn in. We use it with the pole and fix it to the roofrack. And you can keep your bog in the "annexe" bit by the back wheel for late night emergencies !!
The only extra you might need is some better pegs.

For the money though I've yet to find a better one, very pleased with it. It took a serious batterring in some very high winds in the Sierra Nevada, 120km/h +, but was still good for a couple more months. So pleased we bought another one, exactly the same from the same guy.

My parents have a Royal awning like the one Andy has mentioned. It stood up to some really bad weather last year and survived, it is a real tough little cookie in windy conditions.

We started off with a spacemaker 2008 but quickly replaced it with a Kyham after recommendation on here and went for the Motordome Sleeper.

so i'm thinking the Kyham Motordome Classic and the royal are the best, where is the cheapest place i can get the kyham MotorDome classic? iv'e heard good reports on both and the royal is quite cheap so just wandered what owners of each thought? are they both Driveaway?

Yes the Royal is driveaway and does come with an inner tent as well.

i have had a royal traveller tunnel for the last 5 years, its easily the best value for money, and easy to put up and down.
it has stood some right storms, and stood up to the wind really well in cornwall last year when other awnings were ripped to bits, it stood its ground.
to be honest, mine is now showing signs of wear, the sheths the poles slide through are beginning to look a little worse for wear, and i have had two broken poles, but to be fair one of them was muppetry, not the awnings fault.

the inner tent is excellent, and works really well, big and airy.
