I've just started to fit out my first van. I've removed all the old fittings for refurbishment and am ready to do the flooring. The nerves have kicked in! I have been intending to fit laminate, but have just been looking at some pics of vinyl tiles. Which is best from a durability point of view? Does laminate tend to warp when it gets wet? Also I've got three circular holes through the wood floor and through the van body. Should I ignore them and floor over them or what?
Any comments gratefully received.

laminated floors... the more you pay the thicker the floor and get some bathroom laminate

with vinyl it's all about glue

i would put safety vinyl down it non slip and its very hard wearing if you glue it down it will not rip
if you use the right glue water will not affect it

How about laminate effect vinyl?

Laminate effect vinyl every time. You can get it in small rolls from B&Q. Stick it to some marine plywood as a base, then it's super hard wearing, and wipe clean

Thanks for all this. I'm off to have a good look at bathroom laminate and wood effect vinyl! Then I'll decide.

Regarding the holes they're approx 1.5cm diameter and are just in front of where the bed was. I cannot think what purpose they would have served.

hi i'm thinking of laminating the floor in my bus, what is the best way to go about it? would you do the whole floor area, then fit the kichen and rock and roll bed on top of it? would you cut around them instead? would you lay the laminate on a ply base 1st? do you need to lay down polysteyrene sheets as you would at home 1st?

Good questions all of them! I've never done it before, but I've already removed all the fittings, bed etc. It's my intention, if I laminate, to put down a dpm and cushioning layer like I've done at home, then then
laminate the whole floor and fit everything else on top, fixing through the laminate. If that's wrong I'd love to be told before next weekend!

I did the whole floor.
Took all the cupboards out.
Thermowrapped the metal floor.
Laid a single sheet of plywood on first.
Then laid the laminate on top of the ply, I used about two packs if I remember correctly).
The laminate (and ply) is simply laid down, no glue.

The cupboards and the RnR bed hold everything down.

When I cleaned out my T25 I left the ply down,then covered it with that Thermal bubble wrap insulation,then a new sheet of 6mm ply and finally heavy duty vinyl. (black textured with glitter) Looks great and very tough and cosy. Pocolow.

with all that extra thickness, did the floor trim (on entrance of sliding door) still fit?

Depends what you mean by floor trim ,mine had a piece of aluminium angle, which I replaced with a slightly deeper one. The floor height only increased by 10mm overall.
