It's one of those wedge-shaped water tanks that Autohomes fitted under the RnR seat, in front of the sloping engine bulkhead. I don't actually want to touch it, but I do need to remove the (useless) seatbelts which are attached to the mounts on the bulkhead, so removing the water tank may be the only option.

Anyone taken this tank out? What sort of job is it - 1 hour, or 1 day? Appreciate your experience.

To be honest , it is a bit of a pain but very doable.
I have done it a couple of times now and once you suss where all the screws are then it is ok.
You do have to remove a fair bit of stuff though..... Cupboard door and frame to gas locker , bit to right of RandR bed and the piece of ply that run's in front of the tank.
Then you've got to disconect the external filler tube to be able to 'wiggle' the tank out.
If you can avoid doing it , then that would be favourite.....unless you enjoy these kind of things!!
Can't you just cut the old seat belts out and fit new J.K ones?
Would be a lot less work.....they're fairly easy to fit.

Right......or you could cut it out if you dont want to reuse it!!

That was the question I was asking myself when I posted this. Trouble is there's £75 worth of perfectly usable seat belt if I can get it back.

Did you fit the JK ones to your van - if so did have to drill a new mount point above the engine bay (ie further back 'cos Autohomes put the seat so far back)?

Yes , i drilled new holes on the 'flat part' of the engine bay and fitted the big flat plates with captive nuts underneath (also supplied by JK)
Once i had got my head round it all , they really didn't take so long to fit.
If it was me , i'd loose the £75!

Once you've got the tank out, check the floor underneath the tank, where the floor meets the sloping part. On mine, the 2 patches that sit ontop of the main chassis rails had rusted through. Again, a bit of an autohomes quirk - like the drivers side middle panel behind the fridge rusting out

Yes, I've heard the rumours, which is the main reason I think I'll go down that route.

The first thing i did when i bought mine was to totally strip the interior and tackle all the rust ready for its mot - floor, sills, side panel, front arches, cab steps. Spent 2 months cutting and welding year and a half later and i've still loads left to do - windows, front panel, doors, rear arches.
So far, we haven't been away much in it
