My pedal keeps sticking to the floor or not returning so I am getting a new cale and the rubber sheath bit......but I can not find the part on gfs....am i calling it by the wrong name?

Its not the rubber corrugated bit before anyone thinks it is, it is the plastic sheath/tube that the cable runs through as it goes through a double hole bracket just a few inches back from the acelerator fixing point.

Looking on ETKA it appears to be called

Mine is 1980 ...ordered from gfs who did not stock(even know what I was talking about) the part so had to ring Heathrow (headquaters) hope it comes with both bits and the all I need is someone to fit it....in the meantime I am driving a golf with an upside down gearbox which is fun at junctions

I had the sticking cable bit but after a new cable it was still there and it was the accelerator pedal assembly that was jamming open. The replacement linkages are easily bought off JK and although a bit uncomfortable can be fitted quickly. Lastly I found also on my new cable that the plastic sheath shifted toward the front of the van which resulted in a similar sticking problem. Again easily fixed by puling back the sheath till it cleared the linkage movement. I put tones of grease over the linkage to avoid freeezing on as it is quite an exposed component.

ok new cable arrived today but the rubber sheath bit is split and this is not a part known by either just kampers or gfs......does anyone know where I can get said item ? Or if it is really needed?

The rubber sheath stops moisture and dirt getting in, so could potentially avoid a frozen cable. However I dont have the rubber bit but instead inject loads of add+it service lubricant ( a bit like WD40 but lasts much much longer but with more advanced polymers stuff in) into the cable. Then put grease on the all the end bits. Mine has lasted 2 years now and no problems.
