Hi all,

I'm after tips on what if any, people use for insulation inside the campers behind the internal panels, especially behind the kitchen units/fridge etc..

Ihave glass fibre behind the panels in mine then covered in plastic, behind the fridge i have nothing!

My westfalia appears to have loft insulation type stuff...... seems to be what was originally installed.

I renewed all my units two years ago and i had to put rockwall round the back of the fridge before they would give me my gas certificate

what is rockwall?

on another subject, my bus went rusty under fridge, probably due to condensation? what would you treat the floor with the battle against condensation?

Tetreaseal or waxoyl or both - I have both in mine.....

We have just used fibre glass insulation

BnQ are selling insulation for £3 for a pack of three rolls

if you do use normal insulation be sure to seal it in a plastic bag otherwise it may absorb moisture ( which is what I think James means) and rot your van

All you need to make sure you fill the hole with insulation then cover the opening to seal it off with plastic sheeting keeps the damp from passing from in the van into panel rusting it from the inside!

I reckon it's worth wrapping all the insulation in plastic to be honest cos if you use the fibreglass stuff and it somehow gets damp it'll just hold the moisture against the inside of your panels like a sponge. I've got mine (foil backed fibre glass stuff that they use on air con ducting in shops etc) wrapped in those survival blankets (plastic silver foil) cos they were on sale in Kkathmandu and I like to think they'll also help reflect the heat!

If you can be bothered fiddling with solid insulation (like kingspan or celotex foam board) to make it fit, it has much better insulation properties (U values) than fibre glass foam (but is also more expensive). You can get it in various thicknesses in most builders merchants (including wickes).
