2.1 DJ fuel relay and Air flow Meter??

Hi expert advisors,
Ive been and done it ..... Far north of Scotland, with a few cold start situations where the revs wouldnt keep up for the
power steering and stalled the bus, but apart from that noprobs... arrived home yesterday and there was a nice parcel from Cj waiting, thanks cj, fitted ecu and air flow meter .... turned the key, petrol pump started, and then, a beautiful thing, it stopped .... fired the ignition, revolutions up, turned steering wheel from side to side, revs increased to compensate, test drive, s**t of a shovel, better performance than when first bought. Absolutely delighted, particularly having done 900 miles with problems, now the vw world seems a different place ... thanks for your help.
By the way, Durness and Lairg campsites are offering free camping if you dont need electric, if you do its 2.50 at Lairg and 6squid at Durness .... smashing places.
Thanks again

Hi t25ers,
two wee issues I have to offer for your help please,
if yours was a 2.1 DJ water cooled flying machine(relatively speaking of course
) and you had to bypass the ecu effect on the fuel pump relay i.e. the relay is not powering the fuel pump, due to a fault in the ECU, so you miss the relay, with a wee bit of bypass wiring out so the fuel pump is running all the time, would you be happy to run your machine like that, if it appears to be running ok;....
a) forever, b) not at all c) until the ECU is repaired or D) fit a new or reconditioned ECU (if you can find one??) .
If your view is b) what problems if any could/does this scenario present with and is there any inherent dangerous things about to strike me down? and would you go to Scotland this weekend for a couple of weeks touring around the far North of Scotland???
Question two may or may not be related .....
The scene described above is in place and you find engine revs are sometimes not enuff , and stalling occurs
when using the power steering for example, or sometimes they are too much, and it revs continuously at about 1200rpm, and doesnt drop off when revs normally would, at a junction etc. Mine is Automatic and the fast tickover revs are enuff to propel said van without throttle.
i suspect there is no connection between scenes 1 & 2, so disonnected the electrics from the air flow meter, and the revs become normal. Does this mean there is no connection between the two faults and the airflowmeter is knacked?
If you know the answer to these problems, and have the bits to fix them, or know someone who does would you be kind enuff to let me know. I would really appreciate it and many many thanks in anticipation.
