Is it a simple job to remove a bulkhead?

Yes, the top half unscrews around the top edge, for the rest you will need a spot weld cutting drill, and then some paint and filler to make tidy.

There are a couple of welds in places, such as at the end of the strengthening bar which will need grinding off, also on the back of the battery box iirc.
