Hi all,

So we just jumped in the van (1980 2.0l petrol) to grab some shopping.... stepped on the clutch and realised there was no pressure at all!! Checking under the van I see there is a puddle of hydrolic fluid under the engine, suspiciously close to the clutch slave cylinder

Now, it's too cold out there today for me to climb about under there but I just wanted to ask for your opinions before I get stuck in tomorrow....

- Could this have anything to do with the fact that I recently changed the master cylinder?
- It was working fine yesterday, I did a 20 mile round trip. Is it common to just dump its fluid like this?
- could it be to do with the cold weather?
- do you know any decent mobile clutch companies in south london/croydon?

A few other points.. brake pressure is spot on and the fluid level in the reservoir is not below min.

sounds like seals have gone in slave, could be due to increased pressure from new master and decent fluid instead of the old gunge that was in it before , you did bleed it through when fitting new master ? - it's an easy diy job to replace though and gsf sell ate or fag ones if you ask for best quality. Sometimes they can be refurbed, but usually crap old fluid with water causes pitting.

When I fitted the master I bled it actually at the master rather than the slave, so i still had very good pressure.

I also recently changed the brake master cylinder so it would have had some fresh fluid then too.... hhhmm, I'm gonna have to get a good look at it in the morning.
